Track Your Khatm and Quran Reading Progress On the Go

Track Your Khatm and Quran Reading Progress On the Go

We've all been there. You sit down after Fajr, open the mus'haf, and read a few pages. Then life gets busy, a day or two slips by, and when you finally return, you can't quite remember where you left off. Do you start from that surah you think you were on? Or do you play it safe and re-read the last few pages?

If this sounds familiar, you definitely aren't alone. Millions of us struggle to build a consistent, daily Quran habit. That exact struggle is why we built the Khatm Tracker inside Al Adkar.

*Quick heads-up before we dive in: The Khatm Tracker is currently available for Android! We are working to bring it to iOS very soon. Download AlAdkar for free on Android here.

What Exactly Is a Khatm?

A khatm (ختم) is simply reading the Quran completely from cover to cover. A lot of us set a goal to do this at least once a year, especially as Ramadan approaches. But let's be honest-without a good way to track where you are, it's incredibly easy to lose momentum.

We wanted to fix that. We designed the Khatm Tracker to turn that beautiful intention into an actual, daily habit you look forward to.

How It Actually Works

1. Set Your Own Pace

When you tap "Start," you just give your khatm a name. It could be "Ramadan 2026," "Weekly Juz," or even just "Daily Reading." Pick the date you'd like to finish by, and the app takes care of the math. It tells you exactly how many pages you need to read each day to cross the finish line.

You can even run a few at the same time-maybe one for your personal reading, and one you're doing alongside your family.

2. Log Your Progress in Seconds

Finished reading for the day? You can update your spot in three simple ways:

  • By Page - Just type in the page number (1-604).
  • By Surah & Ayah - Pick the exact verse you stopped at.
  • By Juz - Check off a whole juz with one tap.

3. Let the App Track While You Read

This is probably our favorite feature. If you read directly inside the AlAdkar app, tracking is entirely automatic.

When you tap "Continue Reading," it drops you right onto the exact page you left off. When you close the app, it notices which verses are currently on your screen and gently asks, "Save your progress?" One tap, and your spot is saved. No typing required.

4. Quick-Save Mid-Page

Ever read a verse that really moves you and you just need to pause for the day? Press and hold that verse on your screen. A small menu will pop up letting you log your progress right there, so you don't even have to leave the page to update your tracker.

5. Watch Your Progress Grow

We didn't want the app to feel like a strict teacher, but rather an encouraging friend. As you go, you'll see:

  • A Progress Ring - A clean circle that fills up as you read, showing how close you are to your goal.
  • Your Daily Target - A quick glance at how many pages you've read today versus what you planned.
  • Your Current Juz - So you always know exactly where you are (like "Juz 12 of 30").

6. Build a Streak You Don't Want to Break

Consistency beats intensity every time. The app keeps track of your reading streak-how many days in a row you've read at least one page. There is something weirdly satisfying about watching that number go up, and it really helps turn reading into a reflex.

7. Your Visual Reading Calendar

We added a color-coded grid that shows your recent reading history. Green squares mean you hit your daily goal. Blank squares? Just friendly little nudges to pick the mus'haf back up tomorrow.

8. Reminders That Actually Help

You can set up to three gentle nudges a day (morning, afternoon, or evening). Instead of a generic, annoying alarm, the app sends context-aware reminders like:

  • "Still 4 pages to go today" to help you pace yourself.
  • "Time for your daily Quran reading" when it's your usual time to sit down.

The best part? If you finish your reading early in the day, the rest of your reminders automatically pause. No unnecessary buzzing.

Everything You Need in One Place

The Khatm Tracker isn't just a separate tool bolted onto the app-it's built right into everything else AlAdkar offers.

We built AlAdkar to be your peaceful daily companion, which means you also get:

  • A Full Quran Reader with crisp, easy-to-read pages and audio recitations.
  • Adhkar & Duas for the morning, evening, and all of life's little moments.
  • Accurate Prayer Times so you never miss a salah.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many pages do I actually need to read a day to finish the Quran in a month? To complete a Khatm in 30 days (perfect for Ramadan), you need to read 20 pages a day. You don't have to memorize that, though-the app calculates it automatically when you set a 30-day goal!

Can I still use the app if I prefer reading from my physical Mus'haf? Absolutely. A lot of our users prefer holding a physical Quran. You can just open the app when you're done and manually log your page, surah, or Juz in about two seconds.

Is the Khatm Tracker free? Yes! You can download the app and start tracking your reading right away.
